School Mandate Fraud Alert
An incident of Payment Diversion Fraud.
The administrative team at a school received an email allegedly from one of the teachers requesting that bank details for payment of salary be updated. The School Administrative Team requested completion of a form with the “new” details. The form was completed and returned.
Fortunately, the fraud was noted by the Payroll Team, who did not process the payment, therefore no losses have been incurred. It is believed the details of the teacher were obtained from a “staff list” on the school website.
This is just to raise awareness, and identify and/or prevent fraud.
